    Why You'll Love This Recipe

You can't go wrong with these Naan Pizzas. They are slightly different than a traditional flatbread bu much easier than making your own pizza dough. The Italian Sausage is perfect if you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or even something quick for a party at the house.

The best thing about a recipe like this is that it's so versatile, and you can easily make any Pizza you'd like. Try a Hawaiian, Classic Hamburger, Chicken Pesto, Margarita, or another one of my other favorites, Taco Pizza.

Consider pairing this pizza with a quick Aperol Spritz Recipe to complete the party!

    Ingredients

Naan Bread: I used Orignal flavored Stonefire Naan for this recipe, which I prefer over the garlic flavor for Pizza. The garlic is just a little too overpowering for this type of recipe.

Sauce: I love Arrabbiata sauce, and if I'm not making my own, I prefer Rao's brand. It's not the least expensive, but it has so much flavor, the perfect texture, and just enough spice.

Meat: Spicy Italian Sausage is almost always my go-to for Pizza, regardless of homemade or ordered out. I used my homemade ground sausage for this Naan Pizza with Italian Sausage, which I also highly recommend. It has a lot more flavor and can control the spice level. But again, this is a quick meal, so if you don't have homemade Sausage on hand, use some store-bought Italian Sausage.

Vegetables: The only veggie I used in this recipe was ½ a yellow onion. It gets diced up and cooked in with the meat.

Cheese: For the cheese, I recommend freshly grated Mozzarella and Parmesan. You can buy pre-shredded cheese, but I recommend shredding your own for consistency if you have the time.

See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Onions, bacon, and ground Italian sausage cooking in a cast iron skillet.

Step 1: Begin by preheating the oven to 350° F. In a cast iron skillet, sauté the Onion and brown the Italian Sausage.

Italian sausage, bacon, onions, marinara, and cheese spread over naan bread.

Step 2: Spread the arrabbiata over the Naan, leaving space around the edges as a crust. Top the Naan with the Italian sausage and onion mix, then sprinkle on both kinds of cheese. Be sure to go on heavier with the Mozzarella and a light sprinkle of Parmesan.

Lastly, bake the Naan Pizzas on the bottom rack for 10-15 minutes, then broil for 1-½ minutes. Remove the pizzas, slice, and serve.

    Expert Tips

    • I recommend using the original flavored Naan, as the garlic is a little overpowering with the other ingredients.
    • Freshly shredded cheese is always better for melting, especially on pizza. However, pre-shredded cheese will work fine if you don't have time.

    Recipe FAQs

Should you cook Italian sausage before putting it on pizza?

Yes, you should cook Italian sausage before putting it on the pizza. The baking process of the pizza is to bake the crust, melt the cheese, and crisp the top. Not to cook the meat.

Is pizza dough the same as naan bread?

No, pizza dough and naan are different types of bread. However, Naan bread does make a really great homemade pizza and is perfect for parties or a quick weeknight meal.

What do you eat with naan bread?

Naan bread is perfect with Indian dishes like curries, madras, etc. However, they also make a great base for a quick homemade pizza.

What kind of sausage is used for pizza?

Italian sausage is most commonly used for pizza. However, you can get creative by making a breakfast pizza with breakfast sausage or a Mexican pizza with chorizo for example.
