4 Steps To Making Naan Pizza With Italian Sausage

Jump to Recipe Jump to Video Print Recipe

You'll have fantastic Pizza in no time by following these four easy steps to making Naan Pizza with Italian Sausage. These are perfect for quick weeknight meals and weekend parties alike. Plus, it leaves a world of possibilities bound only by your creativity. Try this recipe for Pizza with Italian Sausage, and then make the next one with some of your other favorite ingredients.

    What is Naan Bread?

Naan is a popular snack in India that's often eaten for breakfast or lunch. It's made with flour, water, salt, yeast, and other ingredients. It's cooked on a hot stone called a tandoor.

The ancient Greeks and Romans initially developed Naan. They used it as a food item during religious ceremonies. It was first introduced into India in the 15th century. It was brought to Europe by Portuguese traders who were traveling through India. Today, different varieties of Naan are available in stores across the globe.

Why Naan and not Pizza Dough?

Naan is a flavored bread that works perfectly as the base for Pizza. If you don't want to mess around with making your dough, this is a super easy workaround. The store-bought Naan is already cooked compared to the premade refrigerated pizza crusts. So as long as the ingredients you put on there are as well, this cuts the baking time down significantly.

    Naan Pizza Ingredients

    Naan Bread

Suppose you can or know how to make your own homemade Naan, certainly feel free. But in that case, you might as well make some pizza dough.

I used Orignal flavored Stonefire Naan for this recipe, which I prefer over the garlic flavor for Pizza. The garlic is just a little too overpowering for this type of recipe.

    Sauce

I love Arrabbiata sauce, and if I'm not making my own, I prefer Rao's brand. It's not the least expensive, but it has so much flavor, the perfect texture, and just enough spice.

    Meat

Spicy Italian Sausage is almost always my go-to for Pizza. Regardless of homemade or ordering out. For this Naan Pizza with Italian Sausage, I used my homemade ground sausage, which I also highly recommend. It has a lot more flavor and can control the spice level. But again, this is a quick meal, so if you don't have homemade Sausage on hand, use some store-bought Italian Sausage.

    Vegetables

The only veggie I used in this recipe was ½ a yellow onion. It gets diced up and cooked in with the meat.

    Cheese

For the cheese, I recommend freshly grated Mozzarella and Parmesan. You can buy pre-shredded cheese, but if you have the time, I recommend shredding your own for consistency.

Naan Pizza with Italian Sausage Directions

As the title implies, this is a 4 step process that is super simple.

Begin by preheating the oven to 350° F.

Next, in a cast iron skillet, sauté the Onion and brown the Italian Sausage.

Now, Spread the arrabbiata over the Naan, leaving space around the edges as a crust.

Top Naan with the sausage and onion mix, then sprinkle both kinds of cheese. Be sure to go on heavier with the Mozzarella and a light sprinkle of Parmesan.

Lastly, bake the Naan Pizzas on the bottom rack for about 10-15 minutes, then broil for about 1-½ minutes. Remove the pizzas, slice, and serve.

    In Conclusion

If you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or even something quick for a party at the house, you can't go wrong with these Naan Pizzas with Italian Sausage.

The best thing about a recipe like this is that it's so versatile, and you can easily make any Pizza you'd like. Try a Hawaiian, Classic Hamburger, or another one of my other favorites, Taco Pizza.

Tell me in the comments about some of the delicious changes you make to yours and how your Naan Pizzas turn out.

Thank you so much for checking out this recipe at Chicken Fried Kitchen, and as usual...

    Happy Cooking!
