This Butter Board recipe uses amazing garlic butter, fresh rosemary radishes, and freshly grated parmesan cheese. I took inspiration from Justine Doiron's Creation over at justinesnacks.com. When I first saw her Tiktok video, I had to try it!
What is a Butter Board
A butter board is a charcuterie board with softened butter spread on top and garnished with various toppings. You can make them sweet, savory, or even citrusy. I've also seen some other creative home chefs make peanut butter boards.
What kind of board for Butter Boards

I noticed many people brining up issues around the butter potentially staining their boards and the dreaded double dippers.
The double-dipping issue is easily alleviated by using butter spreaders or even butter knives. I know, seems pretty obvious but apparently not.
The butter and stained board issue is also an easy fix. Find a food grade, glossed serving/charcuterie board. Some are really beautiful and can be an impressive way to serve many different dishes.
I used this live edge serving board from Karma Gifts. I've used it for so much more than just this recipe as well. I've served Smoked Chicken, Ribs, and Monterey Chicken breasts all on the same board. Never had any issues with stains and clean up is very easy. A simple light hand wash with a little bit of soap and you're good to go.
How to make a Butter Board
Ingredients
Butter: For this board I used my own garlic butter recipe. If you don't want to use garlic butter then plain room temperature softened butter will work just fine. If you plan on sprinkling your butter with any kind of salt you may want to use unsalted butter.
Seasonings, Spices, and Herbs: A light sprinkle of freshly ground pink himilayan salt is perfect and adds a nice color to the overall presentation. In addition, I also used fresh rosemary and left the leaves whole, sparingly placing them over the butter.
Additional Ingredients: A little lemon juice can go a long way for flavor and color. Then I generously covered the entire top of the butter board with freshly shredded parmesan cheese. Lastly, I placed thinly sliced radishes for a punch of color and added freshness to the board.
Directions
Begin by spreading the butter in rows across the board. If you plan on serving bread on the same board then you'll need to fill about half the board with the butter.
Next, zest a whole lemon evenly over the top of the butter.
Now sprinkle coarse pink salt over all of the butter. Not too heavy though as you don't want it to be too salty.
Shred a generous amount of fresh parmesan over the the entire top of the butter board.
Lastly, scatter the fresh whole rosemary leaves across the butter and evenly place the thinly sliced radishes to ensure almost every bite will have a slice.
What to Serve with a Butter Board
For this Butter Board Recipe I served it with a sliced bagguet. Because there is so much flavor in the garlic butter combined with he toppings, I opted for a bread that wouldn't over power the butter. That said, you could very well use any kind of bread or crackers that you prefer.
In Conclusion
This not so typical charcuterie style Butter Board is a beautiful appetizer that can be made for small and large crowds a like. Plus you can be as creative as your mind will allow.
Tell me in the comments what kind of toppings you like to use on yours and if there's a certain type you'd like to see on Chicken Fried Kitchen.
